gottscho was founded in 1904 in a small manufacturing loft in new york's greenwich village. it was located on what was known as "butter and egg row". these were among the first products in america involved with dating and coding of packages for assured freshness and quality. the packaging industry was in its infancy with little visible evidence of the fantastic role it would play in future american commerce. from the start, gottscho has directed its energies and resources solely to the packaging industry. it was a fortunate choice. the packaging industry has grown at an incredible rate. contributing, after mass production itself, the most significant concept to life as we know it today. ,
