Australwood is Australia s largest hardwood network providing a single point of contact for international buyers of Victorian hardwood. Specialising in beautifully unique natural feature hardwoods such as Victorian Ash, Messmate and the newly developed Australian Wormy Chestnut. It was formed in 1993 by the cooperation of major suppliers of Victorian hardwood. This network facilitates exports for 8 major companies with long term annual licence allocations for over 500,000 cubic metres of logs. It is able to supply large capacity users through coordination of supply within this network assuring quality guidelines and specifications are met. The development of greater kiln drying capacity by the members in response to market demand for quality appearance grade timber (lumber) products is an example of this cooperation.
