Solar Dryers Australia is a company created as a direct result of a timber suppliers (Rose Gum Timbers) on-going program of research and development to improve its own methods of drying. Our S2 solar kiln was launched in 1997 and has a capacity of 12 to 15 cubic metres. This portable unit is based on an insulated shipping container and can be operational within hours of delivery, needing no expert to assemble. All the kiln components fit inside the container for transport and, due to their robust construction, can be shipped anywhere in the world. No concrete slab is required, just a reasonably level site with a northerly aspect. The only power requirement is 240v for the fan (costing about $4 a day to run), which can be supplied by a generator in remote areas. This kiln has been sold around Australia and the Pacific. The S3 and GS40 kilns are larger in capacity taking up to 100 cubic metres of timber. All these kilns are capable of drying with NO AUXILIARY HEAT SOURCE. This is because
